Possible Reasons for Leaking Chimneys

We repair chimney leaks in Spokane caused by:

    • Rusting chase cover
    • Roof damage

Flashing, rain caps and waterproofing

Regular chimney maintenance goes a long way to preventing leaks in the first place. Annual chimney cleaning and inspection includes checking the flashing, storm collar and rain cap to ensure they’re in good condition. Masonry chimneys can be treated with a water repellent to prevent water from seeping into the porous surfaces, extending the life of your chimney.

Rain Caps / Spark Arrestors

Our rain caps stop water from entering the chimney and are a basic necessity for keeping your chimney interior dry. Not all rain caps are equal and are available in many different materials and sizes. If you notice signs of water entering your chimney such as a visibly wet or damp firebox, or hear water dripping inside your fireplace you may need to install or replace your rain cap. Learn more about rain caps here.

Complete Flashing Replacement

Chimney flashing creates a waterproof seal to prevent water from entering your roof. Failure can be caused by aging, rusting, improper installation, roof damage, wind, snow or ice and a variety of other factors. Allowing water to enter the roof can lead to mold, stains, musty smells, wood rot, drywall failure and structural problems. Many homes still have the original flashing installed when the house was built.
